A Peaceful Retreat in the Heart of the Cape Winelands

Gilgal Accommodation is a family-run guesthouse located just 6 km outside the historic town of Stellenbosch, in the heart of the Cape Winelands. Nestled on a working smallholding along Kloof Road, the property offers a peaceful escape surrounded by vineyards, fresh country air, and beautiful views.
The farm was purchased by the Louw family three years ago and lovingly renamed Gilgal, a name filled with personal meaning and spiritual significance. Inspired by the biblical site where the Israelites built a memorial after crossing the Jordan River, Gilgal serves as a place of remembrance — a reminder that God is good and faithful. Our name reflects our Christian values and our desire to welcome guests with warmth, kindness, and gratitude.
At Gilgal, we aim for mutual joy and satisfaction — for both our guests and ourselves as owners. We strive to create a place where guests feel at home, cared for with a personal touch that only a family-run establishment can offer.
Our ethos is rooted in Christian values, hospitality, and simplicity:
Warm, personal service
A peaceful, family-friendly environment
Honouring God through our business and interactions with others
While still a working farm producing Shiraz grapes and fresh produce for our own use, we have created a space where guests can experience true South African hospitality. Whether relaxing in the cosy cottage or enjoying the rustic charm of our converted cellar, visitors can unwind and reconnect — far from the bustle of the city, yet close enough to enjoy all modern conveniences and the surrounding wine estates, restaurants, and cultural attractions.
We are also able to host small intimate events for up to 20 guests. This includes Birthdays, Baby Showers, Kitchen Teas, Dinners, Lunches and High Teas.
Gilgal Accommodation is owned and run by Brand and Marietjie Louw , who personally manage the guesthouse and farm. Their hands-on approach ensures that every guest receives heartfelt attention and a memorable stay.
The name Gilgal comes from the biblical story in Joshua 4–5, where the Israelites crossed the Jordan River into the Promised Land and built a memorial of twelve stones to remind future generations of God’s goodness. In the same way, our farm stands as a quiet reminder of gratitude — a place where we celebrate what God has done for us and welcome others to share in the peace and beauty of this land.
